Pastel offers a unique bridge between drawing and painting. This class, suited for both beginner and advanced artists, covers techniques in both oil and chalk pastel, giving the student a solid introduction to pastel painting. An emphasis on accurate perception, the importance of understanding the qualities of light and utilization of color harmony will be covered which translates to any medium. This class will allow you to explore subjects while building skill and confidence in your handling of medium. This is slated to be pastel class but other media are welcome, (Oil, acrylic, gouache, watercolor, drawing media)

Learn to accurately render the human form. You will develop your technical skills for drawing and painting in oils by studying light, values, color and by gaining an understanding of edges and planes. Alla Prima painting skills will be taught to encourage technical accuracy. Students may choose to work in pastel, oil, watercolor, acrylic, charcoal, or other drawing and painting media.

Our facilities now offer long form learning where problem solving and projects can extend indefinitely. This allows us to surpass any existing adult level art education offered anywhere and rivaling any university level system of art education.

The course will cover the finer points and subtlety in art which can only be addressed when superimposed over previously developed and executed paintings in the Direct Painting Experience. The Atelier addresses the need of the serious artist to create masterful works of art. This applies to any level of experience from the complete beginner to the long-time professional seeking to improve their work.

We are proud to announce the expansion of our atelier at the E.T. Wright Building in Rockland MA. Our fully equipped climate controlled large studio/classroom space has now doubled in size with 10 foot ceilings and with color balanced 5000K (Artist North Light) adjustable illumination. We have a separate kitchen and large storage area where the students have access to easels and gear storage is available. We keep our class sizes intimate to create the true artistic atelier environment.
We have solved the 3 hour adult education class problem and offer beginner, intermediate through high-level, advanced, professional training that surpasses university instruction.
Our facilities offer long form learning where problem solving and projects can extend indefinitely.
We invite you to be a part of our school for the discerning, serious learner.
