This workshop will take you through the process of creating a still life with intention, from the beginning to end.  Do you know why things work in a set-up and why they don’t?  Do you consider borders, tangents, placement, readability, focus, space, color harmony, lighting, etc?  Don't just puck something up there and expect a masterpiece. 

Design is more than “don't stick it in the middle.” 

Decisions on the intention/the idea when creating a still life painting.  The happened upon, the contrived, traditional vs. modern, vignettes or edge to edge paintings.  What are the underpinnings of what makes a good painting—still life or not. 

Picture making is a lost art and its value is scarcely understood today.  This workshop will give methods to arrive at concrete discernment, clear perception and critical thinking which hopefully leads the artist to make informed decisions about their art.

Leave your preconceptions at home, the only requirement for this workshop is a desire to learn.
